Golf Course Details

Description :

Golf enthusiasts created this 117 acre oasis from the old Chalaghattaswamp. A 7227 yard par 72 course of Peter Thomson design, it currently has a  slope rating of 135 off the championship tees. The fairways of Hybrid Bermuda lead to true-running greens of Tiff Dwarf . The general grain on the greens is westerly except when the ponds lie near. The greens are usually on the fast side with stimp meter ratings above ten during tournaments.

Prevailing winds are south westerly June to August but north easterly the rest of the year. New constructions are developing to the south and all Out-of-Bounds areas are fenced and clearly marked. Bottled water, refreshments and toilets are provided on the course at the 4th, 6th and 15th tees with full service dining at the clubhouse.

Mid-round refreshments can be had at the 10th tee hut. All on-course huts have first-aid kits and intercom to the clubhouse. Carts are not in general use, but, in emergencies, a club car can be called for.

  1. Out of Bounds (Rule 27): A ball coming to rest beyond the perimeter fence of the course is deemed to be out of bounds. Additionally, a ball is deemed to be out of bounds if at:
    1. Holes 1, 2, 3 & 4 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes placed inside the netting.
    2. Hole 4 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes behind the green.
    3. Holes 1, 9, 10 & 18 – a ball comes to rest on the walkway in front of the clubhouse and in the clubhouse.
    4. Hole 10 - a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes on top of the bund.
    5. Holes 11 – a ball comes to rest beyond the fence/wall.
    6. Hole 11 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white line connecting the white stakes behind and left of the 11th green.
    7. Hole 12 - a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes placed inside the netting. The nurseries are out of bounds.

Where both white stakes and lines are present, the stakes identify the out of bounds and the lines define out of bounds.

  1. Ground Under Repair (Rule 25)

a)Play Optional: All areas enclosed with a white line. Relief without penalty as per Rule 25-1b may be obtained.

b)Play Prohibited: Mandatory relief without penalty as per Rule 25-1b must be taken for GUR areas marked with a board stating ‘Play Prohibited’, saplings marked with white stakes or white bricks, flower beds and ornamental hedges/gardens.

  1. Immovable Obstructions (Rule 24-2)
    1. Advertising boards, benches, wells, panel boards, generator room & sheds, rain shelters, refreshment huts, light poles, grates, irrigation control boxes, sprinkler heads & embedded distance markers: Relief without penalty as per Rule 24-2b.
    2. The main vehicle track (whether tiled or not) running through the course is an immovable obstruction and relief without penalty is available under Rule-24-2b. All other paths on the course are not deemed to be immovable obstructions and no relief is available for them under Rule 24-2 or under any other rule.
    3. The pylons together with their concrete bases of the high fence on Holes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 12 are deemed to be immovable artificial objects that are out of bounds and no relief is available under Rule- 24. If the netting of such a high fence is bowed inwards on to the course, it may be pushed back (Rule 24-1).
    4. All yardage and hazard stakes are deemed to be immovable obstructions.

  1. Embedded Ball: A ball embedded in its own pitch mark may be lifted, cleaned & dropped without penalty as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole through the green (Note 3 to Rule 25-2).

  1. Distance Measuring Devices: A player may obtain distance information by using a distance measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.

  1. Accidental Movement of Ball On Putting Green: When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. The moved ball or ball marker must be replaced as provided in Rule 18-2, 18-3 & 20-1.

  1. Dropping Zones:
    1. Holes 1 & 6: the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided behind the green may be used if the ball comes to rest on the path or flower beds respectively, without penalty.
    2. Hole 5: behind the green for lateral water hazard - the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided, to where the ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard, must be used under penalty of one stroke under Rule 26.
    3. Hole 13: if the ball is lost in the lateral water hazard on the left side only, the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided, to where the ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard, must be used under penalty of one stroke under Rule 26.
    4. Hole 14: if the ball comes to rest in the flower beds around the refreshment hut, on the left of the green, the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided may be used without penalty.

1 This is an ideal starting hole considering that it is drivable for most pros especially if there is no head wind. My only concern would be to avoid going too far right which is OB along the entire length as it borders the high driving range fence. 2 This is a challenging hole as the twin dangers of OB on the right and a Nalla on the left, makes driving accuracy of paramount importance. Large twin bunkers on the right around the landing area add to the degree of difficulty. It is important to take a little more time to concentrate and to ensure that your drive is not wayward. Once you get your drive in, the 2nd shot need not be more than an 8 Iron and the green, barring a left side pin position should not pose too much of a problem. A birdie would be welcome but a par is more than satisfactory. 3 A difficult hole to par with water left, OB right and a green
severely sloped and well protected by steep bunkers. Ideally,
position a drive 10 yards short of the left fairway bunker and a
short iron to the centre of the green will get you a par. Be aware
that the green slopes away front left and long left.
Average players will often do better to lay-up their second in the
area short of the green and chip on to the pin. A difficult hole to par with water left, OB right and a green severely sloped and well protected by steep bunkers. the top right tier, par is a challenge with the prevailing head
wind. Long and right along the fence are OB areas. A medium length par 3, the well guarded green slopes from right to left and often causes 3 putt bogeys. 5 A fun hole for the long hitter, with a good chance of getting on
to the green in 2 shots. Water waits for errant shots, right, left
and beyond the green. The plateau greenu2019s defences are the two
steep mounds and a steep fall-off back and right, rejecting shots
that are short, right or long.
The prevailing tail wind will often help shorter hitters on their
drive, leaving a 170 yard carry over water for their second shot,
placed short of the right fairway bunker. A fun hole for the long hitter, with a good chance of getting on to the green in 2 shots. Water waits for errant shots, right, left and beyond the green. 6 The 3rd toughest hole on this course calls for a long and accurate
drive avoiding water right and bunkers left. However, an overly
long drive will frequently reach the water along the sloping
fairway, so use a driver with caution. The prevailing head wind
adds to the difficulty.
The severely sloped green allows difficult pin positions high
right or long left and long balls often run off into the rough.

and accurate drive. The prevailing tail wind adds to the difficulty.
Pin positions on the well banked green can be very difficult when
placed long right or short left. A lofted approach shot is needed
to ensure a birdy or par.

8 A scenic signature hole, where the difficulty level depends on
the pin location and wind. A pin located on the back upper tier
makes a three-putt more likely. The prevailing cross wind can
make club choice critical. Water beyond the green left will trap
the skulled tee-shot.
The curved green frontage calls for varying carry distances to
safely cross the water hazard. Ladies and members playing off
the red tees need carry only 75 yards and have the entire green
length available but reaching the upper tier becomes more
difficult from this angle. A scenic signature hole, where the difficulty level depends on the pin location and wind. A pin located on the back upper tier makes a three-putt more likely. 9 This 600+ yard par-5 demands a 3 shot strategy for most. On
occasion, with a favorable wind, a 300+ yard drive may allow
a long or mid iron approach that stays on the green surface but
be warned that long approaches to the green risk ending up OB.
Club level players often treat this as a four-shotter but even
so, approach shots need to be accurately positioned between
water hazards.

1 This hole is a dog-leg left with OB along the left drain.
Drivable for a few, it presents little difficulty when played as a
regulation 2-on & 2 putt hole.
Most players can place their drive to yield a short iron to the
green. However, a top right pin position will demand a lofted
wedge to allow the ball to stay on the slope to the upper tier. This hole is a dog-leg left with OB along the left drain. 2 Pros will treat this as a two shot par 5, and often loft their
drives over the trees left yielding a mid or long iron approach.
Club players are best advised to lay-up their second to yield a
well-spun and lofted approach shot of around a hundred yards
to the fast running green.
This green has a severe fall-off long-left and right. A pin position
on the right upper tier will call for accuracy and spin if shooting
at the pin beyond the bunker on the small landing area. Pros will treat this as a two shot par 5, and often loft their drives over the trees left yielding a mid or long iron approach. 3 This fairway curves left with OB beyond the tree-line left. From
an elevated tee position with a view of fighter aircraft taking
off, scratch players and pros will often place their tee-shot near
or beyond the hundred yard distance marker allowing them to
attack the pin with a wedge.

Club members should aim to split the fairway leaving around
150 yards on their approach. Water extends to the right of the
green fronted by a connecting drain that runs diagonally across
the fairway. For safety, please wait for the group ahead to arrive
on the 13th tee area before hitting your approach shot. This fairway curves left with OB beyond the tree-line left. 4 A longish par 3, with water left and short. The green is well
guarded by bunkers and slopes severely to the centre from all
sides but the front. Generally, a tee-shot to the centre of the

5 This 600 yard par-5 curves to the right with water awaiting an
over-long tee-shot. Prudent play will call for a 3-shot strategy
laying up short of the central water, thence a lay-up short of the
water and bunkers nearer the green.
Drives to the right (11th fairway) will endanger players
approaching their second shot, avoid this please.

6 Nominally the easiest on the course, this hole can become
challenging with a strong head-wind. The double green slopes
severely to the front and is receptive to longer clubs. The
primary defences of this green are the steep and some-what
subtle slopes .

7 The second most difficult hole at the KGA calls for a long and
accurate drive short of the water hazard. The fairway doglegs
right to a sloped green guarded by water and bunkers either
side. Errant tee-shots will end up in the cross-drain hazard or
the trees right.
The exposed fairway means choosing the right club for the
approach becomes critical in high winds. The green slopes right
to left, and back to front and 2-putts are not guaranteed.

yards; thence lay-up well short of the green and use a lofted iron

9 A tough finishing hole, this par-4 demands a 270+ yard drive
between the bunkers. The fairway slopes right into the drain
and slices will end up wet. Water is also in play to the right of
the green.
The back-to-front sloping green falls off long into a water-hazard,
and is guarded on both sides by steep bunkers. Pin positions
